Riyadh: Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike is set to participate in the Fortune Most Powerful Women International Summit in Riyadh on May 20 and 21, during a visit to Saudi Arabia that will continue through May 23.
Governor Koike will deliver a keynote address during the summit’s closing main-stage session and take part in a panel titled “Leadership: Women in Public Service.”
Her participation underscores a growing global dialogue around gender equality and leadership in the public sector.
The 2025 summit, themed “A New Era for Business: Partnering for Global Prosperity,” brings together prominent female leaders from Fortune 500 and Global 500 companies, as well as from government, philanthropy, education, sports, and the arts.
Governor Koike’s contribution will focus on the role of women in public service and Tokyo’s pioneering efforts to promote female leadership within its government institutions.
She is expected to highlight specific policies and programs Tokyo has implemented to support and empower women in leadership roles.
Beyond her scheduled appearances at the summit, Koike will engage in discussions with representatives from Saudi government agencies and undertake site visits aimed at exploring avenues for collaboration in urban governance and policy innovation.
Her visit marks a continuation of Japan-Saudi dialogue on modernization, inclusion, and mutual development, especially in the context of rapidly evolving city planning and leadership frameworks.
